Carebears is a Horde World of Warcraft guild located on Frostmourne.
We are primarily an Australian guild, comprising of players from the
Oceanic region. Carebears takes a casual stance towards the game, yet focuses on maintaining a high skill level. The guild is also focused on creating a fun atmosphere for its members. These are their stories...

World of Warcraft
Posted by Sokaris on Wed 5th Nov, 2008. 2:14am.

Let me start by saying I take back any bad thing I've ever said about World of Warcraft. After sampling many other games in our hiatus from WoW, ranging from FPS, console games, sports-sims, and even other MMORPGs I can honestly say that none of them have captivated me in the same way that WoW has. No game has given me the same feeling of accomplishment, teamwork, replayability, adventure, exploration or even just fun. I can't put my finger on what exactly 'it' is that makes me enjoy WoW so much (I'm sure its a combination of all the aforementioned things) but whatever 'it' is I'm now 99% sure I will never find 'it' in another game. It's not that I'm addicted to the game, I think I've proved (to myself if no one else) that I'm capable of giving the game away. I just enjoy it far more than anything else that is on offer!

With my life story now out of the way, I'd like to announce that Carebears is also returning to WoW! We are strictly a casual guild this time around, and have no aspirations to reach the heights of progression that we were once at. In fact, we may never 25man raid again. But we are certainly keen to sample the 10man content of WotLK and will be recruiting in the near future to make this possible. We'd also like to welcome any of our old members who share our casual stance on the game back to the guild! Hit us up on the forums.

Strangely, it feels good to be back :)

WTS Warhammer
Posted by Sokaris on Wed 29th Oct, 2008. 2:48am.

A little slow on posting this, but anyways. When it came time to renew our subscriptions after the free month you get with the game, alot of us found it very hard to fork out even more money for this seemingly very, very unfinished game. We have decided to retire Carebears in Warhammer. The game simply did not live up to our expectations. It's a shame, as it had such a lot of potential. I won't go into the problems we had with the game, you can read all about that on our forums if you wish.

A big thankyou to everyone who joined us during the beta, and the first month of retail. We met some great people, and it was certainly a pleasure playing with all of you. For those of you sticking with the game, we wish you all the best! To everyone else, good luck with whatever else it is you decide to pick up :)

A few of us are heading back to WoW. Join our discussions on that on the forums :) More on this in the coming weeks.

Carebears Are Caring
Posted by Sokaris on Tue 16th Sep, 2008. 7:46pm.

On the 15th of September at 3:57am, the Carebears guild was officially created in Warhammer! I believe we were the second Order guild created on the Anlec server. SE Head Start is only a few short hours away from beginning and we can't wait for everyone to join in the fun!

The 15+ of us who had the CE Head Start have already been busy with levelling and RvR. We've killed a few lair bosses along the way too! Tier 2 has been a little boring so far, as the server isn't very populated yet. That will change over the next few weeks though as more and more people are let into the game. We're proud to be one of the first guilds established in the game, and on the server!

Anlec Here We Come!
Posted by Sokaris on Sun 14th Sep, 2008. 11:36am.

After much deliberation we have decided to roll on the Open Oceanic server Anlec! We've decided the latest changes to the Open ruleset are evidence enough that the developers are paying attention to this ruleset and won't be neglecting it. There was a large majority within the guild calling for Open. The general consensus was that we feel there shouldn't be an 'unnatural barrier' protecting players outside of the RvR lakes. Carebears has always supported this kind of 'Open PvP' and we're looking forward to the challenges it will provide.

The game is going live for via the CE Head Start within the next 24 hours. We'll be rushing to get our guild created, expect another news post when we do so!

Carebears in Open Beta
Posted by Sokaris on Sun 14th Sep, 2008. 3:13am.

I'm a little late on posting this! After dabbling in the betas now for the last few months, Carebears was officially created in the Open Beta on the 6th September 2008. A great milestone indeed. Since then we've been testing out classes, RvR, PQs and many other things :)

The Collectors Edition Headstart goes live sometime Monday morning in our timezone, and Standard Edition approximately 1 day after that. We can't wait! We'll have an announcement on which server we'll be rolling on very very soon so watch this space. See you all in-game!

The Calm Before the Storm
Posted by Sokaris on Fri 5th Sep, 2008. 12:51am.

As most of us know, Open Beta is due to start on the 7th of September. As we look for things to do, play other random games, and kiss our loved ones goodbye, here's a list of things you may wish to read to help take the sting out of the anticipation.

Warhammer Alliance Guides Index
Most of the guides in here are absolutely must-read stuff. There's low-end performance guides, PVP guides, levelling guides.. You name it and there is a guide for it. Check them out, and share the good ones with us in the comments if you wish!

Preview Weekend Fixes
A list of things the dev team has fixed after the preview weekend. Great to know they have fixed alot of issues.

Mark Jacobss Blog
The lead designer of Warhammer Online has just started a blog. He's done great interviews and community updates in the past, so his blog should prove to be quite entertaining. Especially when you have nothing else better to do!

Our Forums
Shameless plug. We're surprised how many of our old members have found us again, and how many new ones have joined us for the first time! Come join us for random chit-chat, it takes the edge off boredom.

Trent From Punchy
If you're really bored, you can check out Damadar's brother on YouTube. Good for a laugh if you haven't seen it yet.

That's about it for now, remember.. Open Beta on the 7th! Can't wait to see everyone in-game!

Carebearsguild.net is alive!
Posted by Sokaris on Tue 26th Aug, 2008. 5:59pm.

After a few months of inactivity our website is back in action! We really liked the look of our old website (Big thanks to Tatey and Bigjay for that, it served us well) so we've stuck with something quite similar, yet more easy to manage from our end. We'll be trying our best to update our news here a little more often than in the past! Expect regular updates about guild progression, and also recaps of Warhammer community news to keep everyone in the know. Our forums have been rebooted too, some of you have already found your way there. Check them out and come and talk about Warhammer with us, or just come catch up with everyone again!

Now, down to business... Obviously, we've decided to move over to Warhammer Online and we will be fighting the good fight this time around, pledging our allegiance to the Order! We're still a little undecided on which server we will be playing on, expect an announcement on that closer to release date.

We're hoping to drag as many of our ex-members out of the woodwork as possible, and also attract new blood to our guild. Our aim will be the same as what it was in WoW; to be successful and respected without devoting our entire lives to the game. Check out the about page if you want some more information on who we are, or come ask any questions you have on our forums!

If you are keen to join us in our Warhammer endeavours, please use the relevant sign-up page below

Thanks everyone, and we hope to see you on the battlefield (or on our forums) very soon!
